Wear Stylish Boots in a Practical Way
Monday, November 9th, 2009
Wearing stylish boots will not only keep you warm but look very chic. Black knee high boots with any size heel can be worn to the office and look dressy enough for a dinner date in the evening. They can make a fuller calf look slimmer and cover any flaws. They look sexy yet sophisticated with a shorter or knee length skirt and create a romantic and feminine feel with a longer skirt.
A knee high flat boot will work well with casual clothing or preppy patterned skirts. If you tuck your jeans into your boots, be sure they are skinny jeans so you don’t create a ballooning effect.
For a thinner calf and ankle, look for a boot with bulk like a slouch or western boot. A slender heel is more flattering than a heavier heel which will tend to make you legs look even thinner.
Women with a larger calf and ankle should opt for a stretch boot. Scrunching down the shaft, then pulling it up like a stocking, will make it easier to get them on. Chunkier heels will make the a fuller calf appear slimmer. Look for styles with texture in basic colors and in fashion colors to make a statement. Pointy ankle boots look dressy with a pant and should be worn with thicker hose or tights with a skirt. A boot with rounded or square toe is more casual. Be sure the pant is long enough to cover the ankle and wear a dark sock or one with a pattern.

Metallics A Must
Friday, October 2nd, 2009
Metallics were introduced on the fashion scene a few years ago and have been going strong ever since. They are now being considered the “new neutrals” and are a MUST in every wardrobe.
Shoes, bags and belts in gold, bronze or silver will update, match, blend or compliment anything in your closet. Cool shades like blues, greens, and reds with blue undertones work best with silver, while warm tones like oranges, browns, and reds with yellow undertones look better with gold. Bronze can be a bit trickier–avoid it with anything very light (like a pastel color) or anything very summery.
This is a great way to look in style at a low investment. Remember you are not buying leather so splurge, you’ll get a lot of use out of them all year long and you’ll look and feel great.

Are You Wearing Comfortable Shoes?
Friday, October 2nd, 2009
Synthetics which don’t breathe, cause your feet to blister.
Wear leather, suede, or fabrics uppers.
The toe area should be wide enough through the ball of the foot.
Press a finger into the ball area. The cushioning should have a little give or a heel that is slightly padded.
A pointy shoe with a false front will keep your toes from getting squished.
A wedge style offers more support and will distribute your weight better but could roll your ankle since there is little flexibility.
The heel of a pump should sit directly under the heel for better balance.
The sole should be flexible and bend at the front of the arch with a stiff bottom.

The Perfect Eye Wear
Friday, October 2nd, 2009
Your eyes are the windows to the soul and the frames around them should compliment the shape of your face and reflect your personality.
Since glasses can be an obligation, choose an updated
frame that will tend to make you look younger and more stylish.
Choose a good optician and shop for great looking frames. Have fun with a fashion color or a new look and enjoy wearing them as a fashion accessory.
Small frames are suggested for a strong prescription. They won’t distract the work of the lens and will keep the light in.
A frame should not be wider than your head with the center of the lens falling slightly below eye level.
A low set bridge will make a long nose look shorter.
Angular or square shapes will make a round face appear thinner.
A small face will benefit using a rimless frame, even if just at the bottom

Embellish Your Look Without Looking Over Done.
Saturday, April 12th, 2008
Incorporate small embellished items such as a glitzy hang bag, scarf, or jewelry.
The embellishment should be near the part of your body that you want to accentuate.
Be sure it is scaled to your figure. Accessories that are huge will overwhelm your figure.
Large, bold jewelry looks best with simple streamlined clothing.
Sequins, embroidery, studs, and trims look classier on basic colors like black and white.
Only wear one embellishment at a time as your focus. Don’t over do it.
If you have more that three accessories on at the same time, not including your ring or watch, it’s too much. Less is always more but bold is beautiful. Make a statement.

Wear a Scarf to Make a Fashion Statement
Saturday, February 2nd, 2008
Whether it’s a pop of color (my favorites are red and Turquoise) or a load of texture (faux fur, chunky knits), a scarf can add that special something to coats, pantsuits, even evening wear. Dig out the shawl you wore to the last wedding and tie asymmetric around a simple knit top, over a denim jacket (paired with a black top and pant) or on your overcoat to add glitz and glamor.
